Ernst Haeckel Leptomedusae

Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919), a German zoologist, marine biologist, and artist, was responsible for discovering and naming thousands of new species. In addition to its scientific importance, Kunstformen der Natur proved highly influential to early-twentieth-century art, architecture, and design; many artists associated with Art Nouveau drew inspiration from Haeckel's images.
