Audubon Great Horned Owl
Audubon Great Horned Owl
John James Audubon's The Birds of America stands as the greatest ornithological book ever produced. This iconic work consisting of 435 double-elephant folio sized plates depicting 1,065 different species was printed by the Havells of London between 1827 and 1838. Audubon sketched thousands of birds from life in the wild, and his original watercolors served as the basis for the volume's hand-colored lithographs.
